About Me

Simona Manca

I am a freelance translator (MSc, MITI, MCIL) and interpreter with over 10 years’ experience, and a strong passion for languages. Italian (and Sardinian!) native speaker, I’ve lived in UK for over 16 years immersing myself in its language and culture. This allows me to safely say that I gained a deep understanding of both languages and cultures. Besides this, I have a profound knowledge of Spanish (nearly native speaker) language and culture too, and in my drive to keep improving I am learning Portuguese.

My knowledge is based on a solid academic background – B.A. (hons) in Modern Languages and MSc in Translations Studies – which I keep improving with reading, workshops and with my work.

I have also several years of experience in language teaching as I have taught Italian and Spanish at Primary and Secondary levels and in colleges and as a private tutor.

I can translate a wide array of content from straightforward vital record certificates, to work agreements, to commercial literature for the private and public sector, to fictional and non-fictional literature, to marketing material.

My published translations span from videoart to architecture, children’s literature and novels.

LGBT Youth Scotland goal is to make Scotland the best place to grow up for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex young people, promoting LGBTI young people’s health and wellbeing, and I’m proud to support them this season. ❤️
